The Youth Development Center Activity Building is located at 3 Battaile Drive, Winchester, VA 22601. As well as the Activity Center, we have 3 buildings on Shawnee Drive with rent free office space for 7 youth organizations. There is ample parking at the YDC. The Youth Center has snacks and drinks vending machines, showers and is completely handicapped accessible.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Free Open Gym is Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM for middle and high school students. Adult Open Gym is Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with an admission fee of $2.00 per person. Families may participate on Saturdays from 1:00pm-5:00pm with an admission fee on the weekend is $2.00 per person for those over the age of 6.
Students in middle school and high school may be dropped off during any of the open gym times. We advised parents/guardians to please make sure the center is open before driving away. Parents/guardians must accompany younger students.
The best way to reserve party space is to call 540-662-4564 between 10:00 and 4:-0 Monday through Friday. Lease cost is varies depending on interested space. Plan on having a date that is at least 3-6 weeks ahead. Fee is due when you lease the facility. Parties must end by midnight, unless the event is an overnight lock-in.
There are two sides to the Activity Building. One side is leased at a time, however, both sides may be rented for additional fees. Basketballs and volleyballs/nets are provided free of charge. Vending machines and some table games require quarters. You will need to bring your own refreshments, paper supplies and decorations. Set-up and decorating times are included in the total lease time. You may NOT set up before your set lease time. Kitchens have refrigerators, microwaves and ovens for your use. A Building Manager will be on site to help with the facility.

Businesses and organizations are welcomed to lease the YDC at the $60.00 per hour rate for either the Smith or Holliday side. These groups must provide a certificate of insurance listing the YDC as additionally insured.
Alcohol can be consumed at a YDC party - there is an extensive lease agreement with a $400.00 damage deposit required over and above the hourly lease fee. If no damages occur, deposit will be returned.
No - we provide a building manager to take care of the facility, i.e., doors, lights, heat and air conditioning, etc.
If you would like to volunteer, please email or call us so we may get to know you. Please call or email us if you would like to teach a class or lead an activity at the YDC. Monetary donations are always accepted and greatly needed. We are able to accept cash, checks or credit cards. All donations are tax deductible.
