About The Event

Reading is more than a skill. It is one of the most powerful foundations for lifelong learning, confidence, and opportunity.

Join us this May for YDC Life Talks: Raising Readers, featuring Elena Foster, Director of the Winchester Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. This conversation will explore why early literacy matters, how reading shapes a child’s success in school and beyond, and what families and communities can do to support young readers during the most critical years of development.

Elena brings more than two decades of experience in communications and a deep passion for literacy and community engagement. Through her work with the Winchester Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, she collaborates with schools, families, nonprofits, and community partners to help ensure that every child in Winchester has the opportunity to read proficiently by the end of third grade, a milestone strongly connected to long-term academic success.

During this talk, Elena will share insights…
